PoemGenius is a free, browser-based poem maker. You choose one of fourteen poetry forms, type a few words, and the page writes a draft poem in that form. There is no account, no sign-up, no payment and no limit on how many poems you make. The site exists so that anyone stuck in front of a blank page — a student with an assignment, a teacher preparing a lesson, someone writing a card for a person they love — has something to edit rather than nothing to edit.

Poems are produced by a template and word-list engine that runs entirely in your browser. Your words are placed first; the engine fills out the metre, the rhythm and the rhymes using word lists and a rhyme table that ship with the page. It is not an AI model and no model is called at any point. Where a form has a fixed structure, that structure is enforced and checked before the poem is shown — the sonnet is built to the Shakespearean rhyme scheme ABAB CDCD EFEF GG, the villanelle to its nineteen lines and two refrains, the haiku and tanka to their syllable counts. Because the word selection is randomised, the same input usually gives a different poem each time; the Line by Line generator is the exception and deliberately returns the same poem for the same word.
Treat the result as a draft. Every poem has a Word sources note showing which words came from you and which came from our lists, and a Write another version button so you can compare a few starts before choosing lines to keep.
Copyright: you keep all rights in the words you type and in the poem the generator writes. Use it, publish it, print it, adapt it, sell it — it is yours, and we claim nothing over your output. Your input: what you type is used in the page in front of you and is never uploaded, stored on a server or shared with anyone; we never receive it. Clearing the form or closing the tab is enough to remove it. Accuracy: syllable counts and rhymes are produced by a program and are approximations, so check anything you intend to publish or hand in. The generators carry no advertising. There is no ad unit in this page's form, none beside the Write me a poem button, and none inside the poem the generator writes, so you cannot mis-tap while composing. Where advertising appears, it appears only on editorial pages in a fixed, human-placed slot at the foot of the page, separated from the poem or the reading area by well over 1,200 characters.
