Advertising

PoemGenius is free to use. To keep it that way we display advertising through Google AdSense. This page explains the advertising cookies involved, how to opt out of personalised advertising, and where we do not show ads.

1. Who serves the ads

Ads are served by Google AdSense and its advertising partners. The vendors that may serve ads on this site are listed in the Google ad technology providers list.

2. Advertising cookies and personalised advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

• Visit Google Ads Settings to opt out of personalised advertising by Google;
• Visit aboutads.info to opt out of personalised advertising from some third-party vendors;
• See the list of Google ad technology providers.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we use a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) to obtain consent before serving personalised advertising, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

3. Where we do not place ads

• Not inside the poetry generators. There is no ad unit in the generator form, next to the input fields, beside the "Write me a poem" button, or inside the poem the generator writes for you (#poem-out). A poem you generate here is delivered to you without advertising in or around it.
• Not on the Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Advertising, Disclaimer, About or Contact pages.
• No pop-ups, interstitials, sticky overlays or anchor units that cover the poem, the form or the reading area.
• An advertising unit is never placed within 1,200 characters of a generate, submit, print, copy or download control. On the generator pages that distance is measured from the end of the poem output to the only permitted slot; in the current build it is far larger than 1,200 characters on every one of the fourteen generator pages.

4. The one fixed editorial slot

Where advertising appears on editorial pages (our articles and guides), it appears only in a fixed, human-placed slot at the foot of the page, below the editorial content and above the footer. We do not use automatic ad injection that fills whatever whitespace it finds, we do not place ads inside article lists or between a question and its answer, and no unit is ever inserted into a page by a script that has not been reviewed by us. The slot is left empty when no suitable advertisement is available rather than filled with a fallback that interrupts reading.

5. Contact
